Eight Nations to Participate in Children's Theatre Festival From Kartik 16
Imperial World School in Hattigaunda, Kathmandu, is set to host the 6th edition of the 'International Children's Theatre Festival' from Kartik 16 to 20. Festival Director Tanka Chaulagai announced the details of the event via an official press release.
Organized regularly since 2016 in collaboration with School Theatre Nepal and LaLaBala, this year's festival features participating theatre groups from eight countries. Despite some cancellations due to recent floods and landslides in Nepal, teams from Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Japan, China, the Czech Republic, Israel, and host nation Nepal are attending the festival.
The festival will kick off with an inaugural rally featuring traditional musical bands, cultural attire, student delegations, and cultural pageants. Over the following days, international groups will perform plays centered around children's themes and youth issues.
Sri Lanka's 'Red Apple' theatre group will perform the play 'Captain Cruise', directed by Sachithra Rahubadda, while Bangladesh's 'Hiron Kiron Theatre' will stage 'Father's Sky', written and directed by Jahangir Alam. India's 'Naihati Rangasena' and Israel are joining the festival for the first time, whereas teams from Japan and the Czech Republic are returning participants.
