Satirical Play 'Bhag Bheda Bhag' Staged at Mandala Theatre
The surrealist theatrical play 'Bhag Bheda Bhag', which delivers a sharp satire on contemporary social order, authority, and systemic flaws, has kicked off its staging at Mandala Theatre in Thapagaun, Kathmandu. The play uses a surreal narrative connecting human and animal worlds to reflect social realities.
Written and directed by Sanyog Guragain, the production features a ensemble performance by the 20th batch of trainee artists from Mandala Theatre. Set inside a livestock barn under human control, the story follows the captive animals as they recognize their collective power and rise in rebellion against their oppressors. The animals serve as symbolic representations of exploited and marginalized classes in society.
The narrative critiques systemic corruption carried out under the guise of progress and development. The cast includes Kris Bam, Anita Thapa, Rajesh Century, Sandhya Nepal, Yash Shrestha, Mahesh Giri, Ankit Singh Hamal, Nikhila Chapagain, Asmita Tamang, Rajaram Gautam, and Akash Karki.
With stage design by Sanyog Guragain, music composition by Mahendra Raj Batha, lighting design by Umesh Tamang, and multimedia operations by Pratik Raj Khadka, Sujan Dhimire, and Amir Tamrakar, the play offers both entertainment and critical reflection on social and political structures.
